UNIPMAs Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program Showcases Poetry and Musical Poetry at RRI Madiun Cultural Performance

UNIPMA – The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) participated in the Cultural Performance Festival organized by Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Madiun on Saturday (June 27). Represented by Sihir Hujan, the internal Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the Lingua Student Association (HMPS Lingua), PBSI students performed poetry recitations and musical poetry as part of their efforts to preserve Indonesian literature while introducing the PBSI Study Program to the wider community.

During the performance, PBSI students recited "Gugur", a poem by W.S. Rendra. They also collaborated with PBSI lecturers to present a musical poetry performance of "Panca Sila dalam Sajak" by Aldian Aripin. The performances conveyed messages of nationalism and love for Indonesia's nation and cultural heritage.

The activity was supervised by the advisor of the Sihir Hujan Student Activity Unit, Fajrianto Setyo Nugroho, M.Pd. According to him, art and cultural events like this provide valuable opportunities for young people to express their creativity while strengthening their appreciation of Indonesia's cultural heritage.

"Art and cultural events like this are very engaging, especially when they involve young people. We hope similar programs can also be organized by study programs, faculties, and UNIPMA itself," he said.

The President of the Sihir Hujan Student Activity Unit under HMPS Lingua, Monica Ayunda Hapsari, explained that the group's participation in the RRI Madiun Cultural Performance Festival was intended to preserve literary arts—particularly poetry recitation and musical poetry—while introducing UNIPMA's Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program to the public.

"We want to demonstrate that literature can be presented through various engaging performance formats while also serving as a medium to introduce the PBSI Study Program to the community," she said.

The participation of PBSI students in the event also reflected the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly its community service mission through artistic and cultural engagement. By taking part in public cultural events, students are expected to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in preserving local culture while fostering greater public appreciation for literary works.

Through this program, the PBSI Study Program at UNIPMA hopes to continue expanding collaborations with various partners in the fields of arts and culture, creating more opportunities for students to showcase their talents, develop their competencies, and contribute to the preservation of Indonesia's cultural heritage.
