UNIPMA – The Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), successfully organized the Basic-Level Scout Leader Training Course (Kursus Pembina Pramuka Mahir Tingkat Dasar/KMD) as an effort to equip students to become future elementary school teachers who are also competent Scout leaders. The activity was held for six days, from July 23–28, 2026, at GOR Cendekia Universitas PGRI Madiun.

The activity, chaired by Andista Candra Yusro, S.Pd., M.Pd., was attended by PGSD UNIPMA students. Through KMD, participants received training in knowledge, skills, and attitudes as prospective Scout leaders who are able to apply basic Scout principles and methods in the school environment.

KMD is part of PGSD UNIPMA’s commitment to preparing graduates who not only master teaching competencies but also have the ability to strengthen character education through Scout activities in elementary schools.

During the implementation, participants took part in a series of activities combining theory and practice. The materials were delivered through classroom learning, discussions, simulations, field practices, and evaluations as preparation to become competent Scout leaders.

The Chairman of the Scout Student Activity Unit (UKM) Pangeran Timoer Retnodjumilah, Rizki, explained that the activity began with preparation by the committee and participants on July 23, 2026. The following day was filled with participant registration, tent construction, and campsite preparation.

Entering the third day, participants took part in the opening ceremony, course orientation, pre-test, group dynamics activities, and materials covering the Fundamentals of the Scout Movement, the world of Siaga and Penggalang Scouts, Scout leader posture, as well as PDK and MK.

On the fourth and fifth days, participants received advanced materials, including coaching methods, unit administration organization, various skills, training program preparation, coaching practices, types of meetings, and types of ceremonies. The activities were also complemented by daily reflections and a Fun Night as part of strengthening relationships among participants.

Meanwhile, the final day was filled with a final test, the preparation of a Follow-Up Plan (Rencana Tindak Lanjut/RTL), outdoor activities, and a closing ceremony marking the completion of the entire KMD series.

The activity was attended by UNIPMA Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Marheny Lukitasari, M.Pd., Head of the PGSD Study Program Dr. Endang Sri Maruti, S.Pd., M.Pd., members of the Branch and Regional Scout Councils as KMD trainers, organizing committees, and all student participants.

Rizki stated that the implementation of KMD aimed to improve students’ competencies as prospective Scout leaders while equipping them with knowledge and skills to guide students according to basic Scout principles and methods.

"KMD is conducted to meet the need for Scout leaders who have basic competencies and understand coaching methods, enabling them to organize Scout activities effectively in schools and Scout Units," said Rizki on Thursday (30/7).

He hoped that all participants would be able to apply the knowledge gained during the training in Scout activities at schools and within the community.

"The hope is that participants can become Scout leaders with strong character, responsibility, and the ability to contribute to shaping a young generation with the spirit of Scouting," he concluded.
